Here’s An Awesome VCR Troubleshooting Tip for a Daewoo DV6T834B
Here's a cool little VCR troubleshooting scenario. I was handed a Daewoo DV6T834B VCR combo for repair. The customer's complaint was that when the unit first powered up, it ran for a few seconds, then it would power itself off. Also, there was no tape stuck inside.
Placing it on my bench, I then removed the top cover, and plugged it in to see exactly what it was doing.
I noticed that the machine powered up, and the "supply" reel was running (the one to your left hand side when looking at the unit from the front) backwards.
This is normal to remove any tape slack. In other words the machine was trying to initialize itself. But instead of the "normal" 2 to 3 seconds that it usually takes, it would run like this for a little while, then shut down.

This indicated to me that the microprocessor was not receiving the pulses from the supply wheel sensor, and executed a "shut down" command to
the system. After UNPLUGGING the POWER CORD, I then
removed the front panel, then the DVD mechanism, and then the VCR tape mechanism to get access to the main board underneath.
After a visual inspection of the board, I found that an SMT resistor (R623) wasn't soldered properly, and had developed a cold solder joint on one side.
I then resoldered R623, R622, and the sensor S603 just to make sure.

After replacing the main board, the vcr mechanism, and the dvd mechanism, and reconnecting all cables, I plugged the unit back into the mains.
And would'nt you know it the machine powered up, initialized itself, and was waiting to play the next tape!
A very satifying experience when things go well. I hope that this Troubleshooting tip helps you with your Daewoo VCR. Enjoy!
