A Hot Plasma TV Repair Tip for a Philips
32FD9954/17S
Here's a HOT
little Plasma
TV Repair Tip for a Philips 32FD9954/17S
32" plasma TV
monitor. The set came in because it would power-up intermittently.
After placing
it on the
bench and removing the back cover, I plugged the power cord into the ac
mains and pressed the MAIN power button on, at the bottom of the set.
Using the
remote control
(that is needed to actually turn on and control the set), I powered it
up and the TV ran for a few minutes, then shut down. I then noticed
that the power indicator L.E.D. was blinking steadily.

Now my next
step was to UNPLUG
the POWER CORD!
Checking the
various components on the power supply board, I did'nt really find
anything out of the ordinary and set the TV aside to do other repairs.
A couple of
days later my
associate found a "Tech Tip" online, that recommended replacement of
four capacitors on the power supply board.
I looked closely, and noticed that someone had "been there, done that".
I then started to check components again, and using my DVM in
"continuity" mode to check for shorts, I measured the ceramic safety
fuse in the middle of the board...
I got a "beep"
for about a
half second then nothing! An Intermittent Fuse was
causing this
set to go into "protection", and shut down! (shown in the picture
below).

The tip of the
finger points
to the 6.3 amp / 250 volt ceramic safety fuse. In my 20+ years of doing
repairs, I've seen this happen maybe twice? I just replaced the fuse,
and got another satisfied customer. The part number for the
fuse
in your (32FD995417S This is the model number to enter when you visit

is, 483525397157.
