CRT TV Repair Tip for a Sony KV-32FS10

Here's an
awesome CRT TV
Repair Tip for a Sony KV-32FS10, 32 inch
tube (CRT) TV for
you (a "textbook" example repair).
The set came in
because it
would NOT power-up. After placing it on the bench and removing the back
cover, I plugged the power cord in to the ac mains and pressed the
power button.
And yes it did NOT
come on. I then noticed that the power indicator L.E.D. was blinking
steadily. Now the next step to take is to UNPLUG
the POWER CORD!
The next step
now is to get
your digital multimeter, and set it to the diode check function. Now
find Q502 which is the Horizontal Output
Transistor
shown in the picture below.

The tip of the
pen points to
Q502. Next, measure across the Base and
Collector of the transistor by placing the RED meter lead at the Base,
and the Black meter lead at the Collector.

A normal
reading should be
about .4xx to .6xx voltage drop. However in this TV, the transistor
reading was .002 volts indicating a serious "short" condition that was
keeping the system in a "protect" mode.

Now
you simply replace the transistor, and, "Viola" the kids are happy
again! Now Click the link to get your 2SD2580-CA
Horizontal Output TRANSISTOR!
Always remember to use extreme caution when troubleshooting. I hope
that the information in my TV Repair section will help you fix your
set. Enjoy!
