Here’s Some Useful Tips on CD Player Repair

While doing CD player repair, I started working on this JVC CA-C33BK, (which is a CD player/dual cassette stereo receiver) to repair. The symptom was that the discs were getting stuck in the unit. I then remembered that this particular stereo, was well suited for the enjoyment of masochists everywhere due to it's EXTENSIVE disassembly!

After I finally got down to the CD Mechanism section, I removed the magazine housing to expose the loading gears. On this particular unit, it seems that for whatever reason one or more of the trays were probably "forced out" while the mech was in a stuck position. And that caused the tray slider arm gear to lose a few teeth...

The tip of the screwdriver points to the damaged gear in the picture above. At this time, this is still a "Work-In-Progress". I'm trying to find the replacement part for this mech, instead of having to buy the entire assembly for around $160.00 USD and will update this page when the issue is resolved.

NEW UPDATE! I have finally found an EXCELLENT SOURCE for replacement parts for this unit! If I'm not mistaken the part # for the slide gear is, 30100504T. And the part # for the whole assembly ( PLUS RAIL BASE ASSY ), is 301004301T. Those parts and a lot more (even the service manual) are available at !
