Always remember SAFETY FIRST ABOVE ALL! Please note that in most electronics equipment, there are potentially lethal voltage levels. Do NOT take this lightly! I remember troubleshooting a pro bass guitar amp head once, while it was plugged in and running. I was holding the metal chassis up with one hand (A BIG NO-NO), and the meter probe with the other, well my hand slipped, and my thumb just grazed an exposed wire carrying about 450 volts dc.

I was lucky and ended up only with a black burn line along the side of my thumb, and almost passing out! Please remember when using these electronics repair tips, to ALWAYS make sure the unit under repair is disconnected from the ac mains or, wall receptacle outlet before touching anything inside the chassis.
